Four Quartets

In a little San Francisco gallery called The Luggage Store one Saturday night in July of 1996, the HATFYR crew performed and recorded a concert of only four pieces. However, they repeated the entire performance four times, each time recording a new layer of music as the previous performances were replayed. For “Embryo”, the most important riff was deliberately left for last; “DenCity” features a final total of 16 instruments. The performance was accompanied by a live installation by artist Stephanie Lee, and in the last song the audience literally pulled the fish off the walls. A very unusual concert. The recording of this beautiful, confusing performance was made available to audience members at the post-show party, and to you now.
